489-P5-LO-A20-E is a GE Multilin relay in the GE SR family of relays (in the same family as the GE Multilin 469 motor protection relay and the GE Multilin 735 feeder protection relay). The 489-P5-LO-A20-E is designed for generator protection and can be used in induction or synchronous generators. The unit can operate at 25, 50 or 60 Hz.
The 489-P5-LO-A20-E is designed with a 40-character display that allows users to view value information, diagnostics, and set values. The front panel includes a numeric keypad, status indicators, appreciation and keys, RS232 port interfaces, and control and programming keys, including reset, Enter, menu, menu Up, and menu Down keys. This allows control without being connected to an external computer.
The rear panel includes 12 RTD inputs, 6 output relays, 2 RS485 communication ports, and 4 VT inputs. RTD is field programmable. Communication ports can use ModbusRTU or DNP 3.0 protocols (or both) up to 19200 bps.
The rear panel of the 489-P5-LO-A20-E also includes four isolated 4-20 mA analog inputs and outputs and seven assignable digital inputs.
