Fireye turbine sensors are designed to sense flame in extremely high pressure and high temperature environments, such as turbine generators in power generation facilities. The sensor can be used to replace outdated and obsolete technology, thereby improving safety, reliability and performance. The device has been developed and tested for the GEFrames6F, 7F and 9F.
Controls
The hot end has a sapphire glass window that protects the lens and fiber bundle from extreme pressures and temperatures. The fiber bundle transmits ultraviolet light to an electronic assembly on the cooling end, which amplifies the signal and converts it into a 4-20mA output. The sensor is a loop-powered 4-20 mA device. The sensor monitoring electronics need to provide a voltage between 18 and 30 VDC, and the sensor will vary between 4 and 20 mA depending on the turbine's optical signal. The rated voltage is 24 VDC. Due to differences in fuel, aiming, turbine style, etc., the minimum value of the flame output signal is 4 mA. Fireye recommends setting at least 5 mA as a threshold for detecting flame output.
